Napkin Ring

Turn odds and ends into one-of-a-kind napkin rings that add festive sparkle to a setting.

YIELD:

1 napkin ring

MATERIALS:

Velvet ribbon (color of choice)

One jewelry pieces

Glue gun and glue sticks

Hook-and-loop fastening tape

Needle and thread

HOW TO:

1. Cut and 8-inch length of velvet ribbon. With ribbon wrong-side up, fold over about ½-in at one end. Use a need le and thread to secure it. This will give a finished edge to the bottom of napkin ring.

2. Cut 2  ½-in wide pieces from the hook-and-loop fastener and use a needle and thread to apply them to ribbon. One piece will be applied just beside the little bump from the hem you created (on the wrong side of the ribbon); the other will be applied to the right side of the opposite end of the ribbon. This will make it easier to open and close the napkin ring to fit over fabric napkins.

3. Select your jewelry piece and use hot glue or, if the piece happens to have holes in it, your needle and thread to fasten it to the center of the top of the ribbon.
